JOHANNESBURG - The Council of African Independent Churches has voiced it's frustration after a video of Alph Lukau 'raising a dead' man back to life went viral on social media.

In the video Lukau of Alleluia Ministries prays for the body of a man in a coffin, which reportedly came straight from the mortuary.

Lakau then places his hands on the body of the 'dead' man who after a few minutes can be seen sitting up in the coffin with his mouth and eyes wide open.

Bishop Thami Ngcana, deputy general secretary at CAIC said the entire incident is a poor reflection of the Christian faith.

"The entire incident is clearly staged and we are appalled by the video because it is not true", said Ngcana.

Despite several attempts eNCA.com could not reach Lakau for an official comment.
