Cannabis yoga the new exercise craze

CAPE TOWN - Clothes made of hemp, cannabis-flavoured sweet treats, portable grow houses – these are a just a few of the out-of-the-box ideas to have emerged after a change in the cannabis laws.

Cannabis yoga is being punted as combining a peaceful mind with a peaceful body.

The new form of exercise lives happily alongside medicinal and agricultural products and everything in between.

"We start the class with a plant medicine ceremony. We also have sound-bowls so we really get to tap in with ourselves.

"After a little while, we pass on the joint… and then we close our eyes and we set an intention,” says Roxy Louw, cannabis yoga instructor. 

Organisers say the law change in personal use and growth of the plant, has opened a whole new world of possibilities.

Dagga use was decriminalised in September 2018 in South Africa.
