Cardi B makes history at Grammy Awards

LOS ANGELES - Cardi B became the first solo female artist to win a Grammy award for Best Rap Album.

The award which she won for her 2018 album Invasion of Privacy is Cardi's first ever Grammy win and the rapper used her acceptance speech to thank everyone who helped her during production of the album.

The Best Rap category has been won by male artists every year since 1996.

Lauryn Hill is the only other female artist who has been featured on the list of winners for Best Rap Album after hip-hop group The Fugees won the award for The Score.

Fans and fellow female rappers including Lil Kim and Remy Ma took to Twitter to congratulate the rapper.

Other winners in top categories include Childish Gambino who took home four Grammy Awards including song of the year and record of the year for "This Is America"; Dua Lipa won best new artist; and Drake claimed best rap song for God's Plan.
