Award-winning rapper Cassper Nyovest visited the Baviaanspoort Maximum Correctional Facility in Pretoria on Wednesday.
JOHANNESBURG – Cassper Nyovest might not be the hottest hip hop artist according to the panel of this year&39;s South African Music Awards (Sama) but MTV Africa rates him as the best in the continent.
Cassper got the nod at the MTV Africa Music Awards (Mama) on Saturday as he walked away with this year’s best hip hop award. Nominees in the category included KO who was awarded this year&39;s Sama best rap award, Youssoupha from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Olamide and Phyno, both from Nigeria.

New Daily Show host Trevor Noah, music video director Adriaan Louw and Jeremy Loops represented South Africa well in the awards. Noah was awarded the best personality award, Louw won the video of the year award and Loops scooped the best pop and alternative award.
South Africa and Nigeria shares this year’s best collaboration award which went to AKA, Das Les, JR and Burna Boy for the song All Eyes On Me.
Nigeria dominated this year’s Mama with seven awards. These went to P-Square (artist of the decade and group), D’Banj (Mama Evolution), Mavins (song of the year), Patoranking (best new act), Davido (best male) and Yemi Alade (best female).
Other winners include Diamond Platnumz (best live), DJ Arafat (best Francophone), Ary (best Lusophone), Nicki Minaj (best international), Sibusiso Mavundla and Saran Kaba Jones (MTV Base leadership award).
