Father to spend $100 million on daughter's wedding

INDIA - Asia's richest man is reportedly scheduled to give away his daughter in a wedding that is estimated to cost $100 million (R 1.4-billion).

Oil-and-telecom tycoon Mukesh Ambani will walk his daughter Isha down the aisle on Wednesday to wed fellow billionaire Ajay Piramal's son, Anand.

Ambani honoured his daughter with lavish pre-wedding festivities in Udaipur over the weekend which featured a performance by Beyoncé and included guests like Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra.

Details around the wedding are still not clear but the main ceremony will be held in Ambani's home, a 27-story palace in Mumbai, followed by post-wedding celebrations in the city. 

As gratitude to the city of Udaipur, the Ambanis donated enough food to feed 5,100 people three meals a day for four days, according to a statement from a family representative.
