Brakpan, 17 May 2016 - An organisation called Kids in Racing teaches young petrol heads the basic skills and etiquette of motor sport. And girls are seizing the wheel.

JOHANNESBURG - They could be the next Schumacher, Hamilton and Rikknen. But their surnames are Saaiman, Kotze, and Marais.

They are girls revving up a storm in junior motor racing.

Ten-year-old Megan Kotze, for example, recently became the first girl to be crowned South Africa&39;s junior go-karting champion.

And don’t underestimate their 60cc vehicles. The girls whizz around at speeds of up to 100km an hour.

The little petrolheads are encouraging more girls to get behind the wheel.
