NICD allays fears of Lassa fever outbreak

JOHANNESBURG - The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) is allaying fears about a case of Lassa Fever detected in the country.

It says the disease is not airborne and is transmitted through close contact with bodily fluids.

It is also actively tracking and tracing contacts.

The patient had just returned to Durban from Nigeria.
