JOHANNESBURG - The Film and Publication Board CEO, Abongile Mashele, has warned South African parents to safeguard children's activity on the net.

An online 'game' that's reportedly popping up in cartoons and video games has caused a bit of a stir.

The pop-up video initially appears light-hearted, encouraging children to contact "Momo".

But the character is said to gradually bully young children encouraging them to self-harm.

Police in Argentina and France are investigating the deaths of a boy and girl respectively, who may have taken their lives after interacting with the Momo.
