JOHANNESBURG - Former Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille has been appointed as the minister of Public Works and Infrastructure.
President Cyril Ramaphosa finally made his cabinet announcement on Wednesday night, which included de Lille, following weeks of speculation.
De Lille resigned from the Democratic Alliance following a public spat and several legal battles with the party, she later formed her own political party, GOOD, in December 2018.
Many South Africans have taken to social media to express their shock over De Lille's appointment, while others have recalled her battles with the DA and used this time to congratulate her on her new position.
