JOHANNESBURG - South African musician Thandiswa Mazwai will be treating fans to a special concert called Fetish this Freedom Day weekend in Newtown Johannesburg.
Thandiswa says the idea behind the name of the concert was to see how people would react to the word.
"The word for me became interesting because I wanted to see how people interpreted that word, whether it would shock them or whether they'd be excited or intrigued."
"Obviously there's the dictionary meaning which is something that you're really really obsessed with but also there's that kind of like sexual thing that goes with fetish", said Mazwai.
Thandiswa adds that she specifically chose this weekend for the concert as a way to encourage people to be free to be who they are.
"I'm not worried about society. I think that society does kind of have to open its mind some more and speak more about sex and sexuality so there can be less violence and hate and misunderstanding."
