NEW YORK - World renowned comedian Trevor Noah has rubbed shoulders with Hollywood's greats at the Met Ball on Monday.

Watch eNCA's Checkpoint as it investigates how well Noah’s Mzansi inspired jokes will go down in the United States. The show asked local Americans for their take.

South Africans used the opportunity to claim Africa’s most successful comedian as their own.

While others just had praise for the strides the day walker has made thus far.

Noah himself played down his presence at the event.

Beyoncé and JZ were among many other famous guests at the Met Gala, an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.
