JOHANNESBURG - World-renowned jazz singer Dorothy Masuka has died.
The music industry veteran was 83 years old.
Masuka was born in Zimbabwe and discovered by a talent scout at a school concert.
Her music was popular throughout the 1950s.
The song that launched her career was Hamba Nontsokolo.
Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse said it's a very difficult moment.
"We are very thankful for the great work she gave us," he said.
Peter Tladi, founder of Joy of Jazz, said it's a very sad day.
