JOHANNESBURG - A festival in India ended on a bit of a terrifying note after an elephant attacked nearly 27 vehicles parked near a temple.

Kalidassan - the elephant - was parading with 11 other animals during a festival in southern India.

Five elephants were lined up as part of a ritual.

Kalidassan went berserk and started trampling and flinging parked cars and motorbikes.

The animal&39;s tusk had been tethered but it managed to break free and went on a rampage.

Staff at the festival tried to tame the animal, but failed.

No injuries were reported.
