The top-ranking female chef of the world says that her botanical approach to her cooking sets her apart from the rest, 9 November 2017.
JOHANNESBURG – One of South Africa&39;s top chefs has returned from Poland, where she has just won what foodies would deem the most prestigious title in the culinary world.
Thirty-seven-year-old Chantel Dartnall is no stranger to the local and international culinary world as she has already earned numerous titles, including South Africa&39;s Chef of the Year twice.
She has returned from Warsaw where she was voted the best female chef on the planet.
"It&39;s one of the greatest honours. I have to say in amongst all of the chefs that had been nominated for this award, it’s really something which is an incredible achievement. Chefs that have been nominated for the title were chefs that I always looked up to,” Dartnall said.

The Pretoria-born chef today heads up her own restaurant, Restaurant Mosaic, in her hometown and getting there took years of hard work.
“You need to cook from your heart, so make it personal and you need to have a lot of perseverance, dedication and an incredible team behind you,” Dartnall added.
