Maybe you haven't heard of baby racing. But it's a thing in the NBA.

JOHANNESBURG - Having problems deciding on a name for your new bundle of joy?

How about following the trend?

Stats SA has released a list of the most popular names given to babies in the past year.

"Junior" has retained its position as the most preferred name for boys, for a third year in a row.

It’s followed by "Blessing" and "Gift" respectively.

The report shows that parents prefer to name their baby girls "Precious", "Princess," or "Amahle."

Top surnames are Dlamini, Nkosi and Ndlovu.

But stats SA also reveals a worrying trend. Fathers' names are missing in over 60% of the baby registrations.
