Boksburg, Gauteng - A four-year-old boy has died after his family was hijacked on the weekend. Taegrin Morris and mother, Chantel, were leaving his grandmothers home in Reiger Park when two armed men approached them.

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have stepped up efforts to find the perpetrators linked to two hijackings involving children.

A task team has been established to investigate both incidents, and a manhunt is now under way.

Over the weekend, four-year-old Taegrin Morris was killed after his family was hijacked.

The suspects sped off while his mother was trying to unfasten his seat belt. Taegrin was dragged next to the vehicle. The abandoned car was later discovered several kilometres away in Boksburg, with the dead boy still tied to the seatbelt.

The other incident involves five-year-old Mongezi Phike, who is still missing. He was travelling with his father when they were hijacked in Bronkhorstspruit on Tuesday. An armed gang of four allegedly tied up and assaulted the father, leaving him for dead.
