JOHANNESBURG - International Monetary Fund (IMF) alternate executive director Fundi Tshazibana, has been appointed adviser to the South African Reserve Bank governor.

She becomes the seventh member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank on 29 February.

Tshazibana has 17 years of public policy analysis and formulation experience, having worked at the MF, National Treasury and the National Energy Regulator.

She has represented the Treasury in government’s economic cluster and served on its fiscal liability committee, including co-chairing Treasury’s macroeconomic standing committee.

Tshazibana becomes the first female member of the interest-rate-setting body since Gill Marcus quit as governor in 2014.
