JOHANNESBURG - The Energy Department says the petrol price will rise by 19 cents a litre.

It blames the increase on higher global oil prices and the depreciation of the rand against the US dollar.

Diesel will also rise by 30 cents per litre.

Illuminating paraffin will cost 35 cents more per litre.

The price of liquid propane gas rises by 39 cents a kilogram.
