JOHANNESBURG - Expect to pay 71 cents a litre extra for petrol at the pumps from Wednesday.

Diesel goes up by 60 cents a litre, while illuminating paraffin will cost a whopping 98 cents more at retailers.

The Automobile Association attributes the steep increases to the weaker rand-dollar exchange rate.
