File: The Energy Department says the petrol price will rise by 19 cents a litre.
JOHANNESBURG – The price of petrol will increase at midnight on Tuesday.
The energy department announced last week that both grades of petrol – 95 and 93 octane – will increase by 82 cents a litre.
Diesel will increase by 85 cents a litre, while the price of illuminating paraffin will rise by 82 cents a litre.
In Gauteng, the price of petrol will stand at R15.79 per litre.
The Automobile Association of SA said the fuel hike will have a negative impact on consumers.
The association has predicted another increase in July.
