PORT ELIZABETH - The summer initiation season is in full swing 18 boys have died in the Eastern Cape so far.

The spokesperson for the province's co-operative governance and traditional affairs department, Mamkeli Ngam, stated that the government has done everything they are able to do to prevent loss of life.

Mgam said traditional leaders in their areas must ensure there are no illegal initiation schools operating.
