JOHANNESBURG - The health department released the latest COVID-19 results on Wednesday.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize said 1,990 new cases have been identified.

A further 82 COVID-19-related deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Five patients died in the Eastern Cape, eight in the Free State, 10 in KwaZulu-Natal, 10 in the North West, 22 in the Western Cape and 27 in Gauteng.

The total death toll is now 15,168.

The recovery rate is 88.7 percent and 21,736 new tests have been conducted since the last report.
