Chief Justice stands by 666 remarks

JOHANNESBURG - Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has lashed out at those criticising him over his controversial COVID-19 vaccine, 666 remarks.

He says he will not compromise his religion for anyone.

"I am crying unto God, if there's any vaccine, I don't want it," he said.

The Chief Justice drew attention to himself after comments about COVID-19 vaccines while praying at a thanksgiving ceremony on Thursday.

Mogoeng was addressing the media during the 2019/2020 Annual Judiciary report presentation on Friday.

Meanwhile, according to Alison Tilley from Judges Matter, the Chief Justice has never followed the basic principle of judges not commenting in public.

According to the Chief Justice, there is no manual to how a judge behave.
