JOHANNESBURG - The North Gauteng High Court is expected to listen to arguments in the matter relating to the arrest of Norma Mngoma, the wife of former Finance Minister, Malusi Gigaba.

Gigaba spat: Forensic report into devices expected

Mngoma is challenging the constitutionality and validity of her arrest by the Hawks.

She was arrested in July on charges of malicious damage to property and crimen injuria, after damaging a Mercedes-Benz vehicle belonging to her husband’s friend.

Gigaba laid the charges against his wife.

She now wants the court to set aside her arrest and or possible prosecution.

Norma Mngoma's case has been postponed to October. She made a brief appearance in the Pretoria magistrate's court and is now heading to the city's High Court. The wife of former minister Malusi Gigaba wants to challenge the constitutionality and validity of her arrest in July by the Hawks. Slindelo Masikane reports.

 

Mngoma made a brief appearance in the Pretoria magistrate's court on Monday where her case was postponed to October.

In her court papers, Mngoma describes her husband as "serial philanderer" and that her actions followed extreme provocation.
