Health Minister Zweli Mkhize, greeted by healthcare workers frustrated with salaries and working conditions, has promised more beds and doctors for the province.

Mkhize said he met with many officials and the outcomes of the discussions are concerning.

He said, "the issues of the PPE from where I sit, are being handled daily now at a facility level. We have set up occupational health and safety committees which involve members of unions and staff management so the issues of PPE should not be a discussion."

Mkhize said PPE shortages should be resolved immediately.
