JOHANNESBURG - South African Airways is taking action against a pilot. That's after it emerged he may have misled officials about his qualifications.
SAA pilots are supposed to acquire an Airports Transport Licence within 5 years.
William Chandler is a qualified pilot, serving as a senior first officer.
But he did not have that particular licence.
Officials made the discovery after probing an incident which occurred on a flight to Frankfurt.
Reports claim Chandler declined promotion because he would have to submit his certification.
The airline wants him to repay certain funds, allegedly received under false pretences.
eNCA understands that he has resigned from his position.
