DURBAN - Baby Sibanisethu began her life in danger but is now being offered refuge.
Adoption offers are streaming in for the baby girl who was rescued from a stormwater drain in Newlands East, north of Durban.
Baby Sibanisethu is still under medical observation in hospital but, the provincial health department has confirmed she's doing well, with no medical complications.
Members of the Newlands community were shocked that the girl had been abandoned in this way.
Now, people from around the country want to make little Sibanisethu part of their families.
Her name means "Ray of Light" in isiZulu.
Police are still trying to locate the child's relatives.
Members of the public are also being asked to stay away from the hospital where the child is being treated, as this could put the baby's life in danger.
