JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is confident every pupil will have a school for the coming academic year.
Towards the end of last year, many had yet to be placed.
Lesufi says in some cases this was because parents didn't like the schools available.
"We have placed all learners," he said.
"We had a challenge that [the] majority of parents chose a few schools and those schools were oversubscribed."
Lesufi said his department is dealing with appeals from parents who were unhappy with alternative placements.
"By 15 January all those appeals will be attended to," said Lesufi.
"We will deal with late registrations until 21 January."
