JOHANNESBURG - International relations expert, Brooks Spector, says US President Donald Trump's tweet about South Africa is, quite simply, factually incorrect.
Trump was tweeting in response to a Fox News report on South Africa’s plans to expropriate land without compensation.
He’s asked his Secretary of State to closely study the land reform process in South Africa.
I have asked Secretary of State @SecPompeo to closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers. “South African Government is now seizing land from white farmers.” @TuckerCarlson @FoxNews— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 23, 2018
The reaction comes after Fox News Anchor, Tucker Carlson, described the South African government as racist.
Carlson said what the South African government is doing, is far more racist than anything Trump has ever done.
The channel likened the situation here, to violent land grabs in Zimbabwe, where white-owned farms were seized by the government.
Spector told eNCA he was "almost speechless by the number of ... non-facts or made up facts that have been crammed together in such a small story".
