JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) was marching to demand service delivery in the City of Johannesburg.
The march is in partnership with the South African Communist Party (SACP), the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) and the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco).
It comes on the on the same day that residents of Westbury, Ennerdale, and Eldorado Park embarked on a "total shutdown" after days of violence in Westbury sparked by an alleged drug-related shooting which resulted in Heather Peterson being shot and killed in the crossfire.
The ANC's march in the CBD was also taking place at the same time that President Cyril Ramaphosa was hosting a major job summit.
Gauteng Premier David Makhura made an appearance at the venue where the march was set to start.
