ANCYL members protest against blackouts

JOHANNESBURG - The rolling blackouts will be the death knell of the ANC.

This is according to a group of ANC Youth League members who on Monday marched to the party’s headquarters in Johannesburg to protest against power cuts.

The members are calling on the ANC to dissolve the Eskom board and fire both CEO Andre de Ruyter and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.  

The never-ending blackouts, have placed South Africa on tenterhooks.

One analyst says firing the Eskom head will not help.

While opposition parties are urging voters to punish the ANC in the 2024 elections, the majority of South Africans forced to endure the hardships of blackouts, particularly during these freezing weather conditions, are unlikely to find immediate comfort.
