COVID-19 in SA: Is another 'family meeting' looming?

JOHANNESBURG - As parts of the country battle a resurgence of COVID-19 infections, President Cyril Ramaphosa is preparing to address the nation.

eNCA has been reliably told that the president will announce tough new measures on Thursday night for COVID-19 hotspots, including the Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

Analyst Karima Brown said her sources indicate tighter curfews, restricted alcohol trading hours and limits on bars and taverns.

"I have been told, very reliably, that the president is indeed addressing the nation [Thursday] evening. It's going to focus on the distressing rise in COVID numbers in the Eastern Cape as well as in the Western Cape," Brown said.
