JOHANNESBURG - The World Health Organization has warned against dismissing the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The AstraZeneca vaccine is currently a vital part of the WHO’s Covax programme, which is procuring vaccines to ensure equitable distribution around the world.

AstraZeneca accounts for almost all of the over 300-million doses Covax is preparing to begin shipping to some 145 countries.

The health organisation insists this jab remains an important, life-saving tool in the fight against the coronavirus.
