CAPE TOWN - There has been a rise in attacks on emergency personnel in the Western Cape over the past year.

These frontline heroes have had to bear the brunt of a pandemic – and violent crime – while trying to save lives.

The Western Cape health department says between March last year and March this year, there have been 78 attacks on EMS staff -- the highest number in five years.
