WATCH: Babes' father speaks out against Mampintsha

The EFF has opened a case of assault against musician Mampintsha in Durban. The party's KZN chairperson, Vusi Khoza, says they've tried to reach out to singer Babes Wodumo.

DURBAN - Reverend Mbongeni Simelane, the father of Bongekile Simelane or Babes Wodumo, has spoken out against the abuse of his daughter.

Simelane claims Mandla Maphumulo, also known as Mampintsha, has assaulted Bongekile in front of family members.

Simelane stated he has approached Maphumulo's family and himself to attempt to speak with him in an attempt to convince him to stop abusing the singer.

He said Maphumulo spent Bongekile's earnings from her work on the Black Panther soundtrack as well as from MTN adverts.

Simelane said, “he wants to control my daughter... I have hidden her.

"I know he will send his boys to look for her. If my daughter dies I want the whole world to know it is Mampintsha.

“Mandla is enriching himself with my daughter.. he is using muthi on my daughter.”

The singer went live on Instagram late on Sunday night in what first looked like a regular live video feed.
