JOHANNESBURG The man accused of starting the Betty’s Bay fire faces more charges.
Shelton April’s bail hearing was postponed on Monday at the Caledon Magistrates Court.
His case has now been moved to the regional court.
The fires in the Cape’s Overstrand region have been raging since New Year’s Day.
April was arrested two days later after a R5,000 reward was offered by the Overstrand Municipality.
He was charged with contravening the national environmental management act.
Meanwhile, firefighters from across the Western Cape are still battling the devastating fires in the region.
Fires also started in Hermanus and Franskraal last week, although only one fireline is still active in Franskraal.
