Bheki Mlangeni Hospital CEO placed under precautionary transfer

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Department of Health has placed the CEO of the Bheki Mlangeni Hospital, Ruth Mabyana under precautionary transfer.

The Gauteng health department says the CEO is allegedly implicated in a case of misconduct.

The health department has moved Mabyana to the district office.

She will remain there while her conduct is investigated.

"There is a need to urgently resolve the broader challenges at Bheki Mlangeni Hospital and restore the confidence of the community in the facility’s capacity to continue providing much-needed healthcare services," said Acting Gauteng Heath MEC, Jacob Mamabolo.

Makabedi Makhetha will be acting in the position.

The hospital has been in the spotlight this week after a 16-year-old psych patient was allegedly raped by another patient.
