Botswana's govt accused of arresting opposition members, journalists

GABORONE - Botswana's President, Mokgweetsi Masisi has been accused of arresting journalists and members of the opposition.

Some are said to have even fled the country.

Dithapelo Keorapetse, from the Umbrella for Democratic Change, confirmed that outspoken opposition activist Resego Kgosidintsi was arrested and taken into the custody of the police.

"Her only crime, it would seem, was to post on FB that she wishes to mobilise patriots across the county r to protest against Grndsre based violence."

Kgosidintsi was arrested and released a day later.

The arrest has led activists to say that the president is hell-bent on restricting freedom of expression.
