JOHANNESBURG - You would think we have better things to spend our money on, but apparently not R22-million for a flag pole.
The Department of Arts and Culture wants to erect the flag at Freedom Park in Pretoria.
Minister Nathi Mthethwa has defended the multi-million-rand project, saying it is part of the department's mandate.
But South Africans say they've got a million ideas about what they would do with R22-million, and a flag is not one of them.
They want government to use the flag project money to tackle a mountain of service delivery issues facing municipalities.
