Frustrated liquor traders in Cape Town say the rezoning act is a plan by Western Cape officials to interfere in the way they’re running their businesses. eNCA’s Nobesuthu Hejana reports. #DStv403
CAPE TOWN - Some Cape Town liquor traders are threatening to shut down big liquor retail outlets operating in the townships.
That's if the Western Cape liquor board refuses to hear their concerns.
They claim the new rezoning act -- which will come into effect next month -- is aimed at closing down their businesses.
The Western Cape Liquor authority says while it recognises the concerns of traders, there are other stakeholders like local government, municipalities and police that are involved in making the final decision.
