Police probe suspected poisoning after six collapse in Wetton

Police officers have been scouring Wetton roads for answers after six people collapsed on Monday afternoon.

CAPE TOWN - Cape Town police are investigating suspected poisoning after six people collapsed on Monday afternoon in Wetton near the city.

The victims - five men and one woman - were all rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Police officers have been scouring Wetton roads for answers.

They said the six people had all consumed food from a nearby café.

The victims collapsed at three different spots along this road most of them were reportedly unresponsive when community members tried to help.

Residents say the victims are among the most vulnerable - homeless people and casual labourers.

Investigations continue while they remain in hospital.
