JOHANNESBURG - The Catholic priest accused of sexually abusing 46-year-old William Segodisho 30 years ago, is now apologising.

The priest - who is now based in the UK - has sent him a written apology.

He says he deeply regrets the pain he caused him and understands he violated the trust Segodishu had in him.

Segodisho opened a case against his abuser earlier this year.

He says the Catholic Church is disregarding the pain and trauma he is suffering and tried to escape responsibility by transferring his alleged rapist overseas.
