DURBAN - Police Minister Bheki Cele claims the police were working without intelligence from the State Security Agency (SSA).

Cele rubbished any suggestions that they were briefed by the SSA to act.

However, State Security Minister, Ayanda Dlodlo, said during a briefing on the looting in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng that the department provided intelligence to the police to curb the violence.

Over 200 people have died as a result of the unrest in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
