JOHANNESBURG - Chaos erupted in Alexandra township on Tuesday over food parcels.
Residents queued outside a school but the delivery never happened.
Ignoring lockdown rules to stay at their homes, residents did not keep any social distancing as they waited.
The police had to disperse the angry crowd.
Meanwhile, Johannesburg Mayor Geoff Makhubo says the city will address the situation.
He has called for NGOs to contact the city before distributing food parcels.
Applications for food parcels can be made by calling the National @OfficialSASSA Call Centre 0800601011 or sending an email to [email protected]
