JOHANNESBURG - A strike at Soweto’s Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital is over.
Officials from the Gauteng Health Department held a meeting with unions, including Denosa, Hospersa and Nehawu, on Monday night.
Workers at the facility abandoned their posts on Monday to protest against corruption.
Employees accuse acting CEO, Doctor Sifiso Maseko of, among other things, perpetuating a sex for jobs culture at the facility.
The department said Maseko’s still on special leave and they are in the process of appointing his interim replacement.
Officials said independent investigators have now been roped in to probe the claims.
