JOHANNESBURG - City Power has removed an estimated R10-million worth of stolen cables in Kya Sands informal settlement.

The operation supported by JMPD, SAPS and Immigration Officials removed about 10 tons of copper and aluminium cables.

The power utility says business and residential customers have been struggling with daily outages.

It adds that it will intensify the removal of illegal connections across Johannesburg as part of the winter strategy to reduce pressure on the electricity system.
