'Used' coffins unearthed in alleged Joburg drug den

JOHANNESBURG - Coffins have been discovered hidden in a house in Orange Grove in Johannesburg.

The house is believed to be a drug den.

Police say no dead bodies were found and no arrests were made.

It's not yet clear whether or not the coffins had been used.

Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele said the owner of the house was not on the property, but police have registered an inquiry to speak with the owner.

Makhubele said it is unclear whether the 20 coffins or so had been used or not.

Residents called police after they suspected the house had been hijacked.
