Consumer Commission questions pilchards' recall

JOHANNESBURG - The National Consumer Commission says West Point Processors has still not informed it of the recall of tinned fish days into the process.

The commission said it will compel the company if it has to.

West Point recalled 400 gram cans of pilchards in tomato sauce on Saturday, affecting Checkers, Shoprite and OK.

The company said the tins used may have a canning deficiency.

The National Consumer Commission said West Point Processors failed to inform them about the recall as per regulations and it will compel them.
