The decision comes after thousands of ordinary South Africans gave their opinion on the land issue, during public hearings held across the country.

The debate sparked a rift among South Africans with some opposing the proposal saying it will lead to racial conflict.

President Cyril Ramaphosa also had to assure the international community that land would only be expropriated within the confines of the law.
