JOHANNESBURG - The Constitutional Court will on Saturday give its reasons for refusing to postpone the elections.
The IEC asked the court to move the elections to next year.
It was acting on the advice of Former Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke.
He found that free and fair elections would not possible during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Following the court’s decision, a new election date of 1 November was proclaimed.
The reasons will be sent to the Cooperative Governance Minister who supported the application.
It will also be sent to all political parties and published on its website.
